Hi Nick,
Here is my version of a fattened up OOO design. The body length is 20 inches, lower bout 15 1/4" , upper bout 11 1/2" depth 4 7/8 inches

Wow clay, 4 7/8" is deep. Do you lose some of the playing comfort?

I am having a lot of fun drawing shapes in G-thang, and I need to try the other program that you recommended in another thread the other week. I wish I could import a photo of the wood and accurately design around the grain, but I'll just have to do the best I can exporting to Photoshop. I wonder what I could design to keep the waist grain but avoid the disadvantages of a D shape; I know Alan mentioned the lack of waist could potentially be one the disadvantages so maybe it isn't possible.

Maybe I'm going about this wrong and I need to let go of my feelings about the grain and just choose the best shape for the job. I'll do some mockups of different shapes and sizes based on the J185 and see!

Maybe try decreasing the waist on a smaller body instead of Dreadnaught with deep, large body. Might get comfort and improved bass (compared to a small body with tighter waist). Part of the strong bass on a dread is from the lack of waist, not just the overall size. Alternatively, move the waist toward the upper bout which increases the area of the lower bout. Or do both.

Thanks, Clay! I like the idea of a "beefed up" 000. Did it meet your expectations?

And thanks, Daryl, I'll be experimenting some more. Those are the kind of things I've been trying, and, as much as I like the last one I posted, I can't escape the feeling that a dreadnought-ish shape makes best use of the figure.

I've not been planning this one much for the last few days, I managed to get some time to work on my current build and I've made some excellent progress in the last two days!
